A message from the President, Marty Brown

It is still early in 2024, and I am tinkering on a particularly stubborn carburetor in my garage, and thinking about all the wonderful things that are going to happen in September at the big event.   Sometimes the mind wanders even when doing tasks that require some attention.  As I remove the carburetor top and view with a sigh, the (again) plugged jets, I find myself fully drawn into appreciating and getting excited about the Langley Cruise-in for 2024.  The carb can wait, there is still salt on the roads.

Simply put, I have a lot of love for Langley Cruise-in, what the show represents, the fans and the team of people that I am so proud to be part of.   Our little show just happens to be a major charitable force in our community of the Fraser Valley.   Many excellent causes from medical assistance to meals, to care for animals and veterans, Cruise-in really gives all to these great causes. I cannot stress enough the impact and benefit this show has right here in our community.  As a lifelong car fan, I remain awestruck at the variety and level of vehicles and owners that attend the show.  I walk a short distance and have ten new favorite cars, then ten more and so on.  A big “high five” to the owners and car clubs.  I still get chills and emotional seeing all the happy faces and the cars rumbling, roaring, and sputtering in (I bet it’s plugged jets!).

The Cruise in team seems to attract the most amazing people that become a family.  This show is huge.   A show like this could never happen without the tireless efforts of volunteers.  Whether it is parking duty, garbage detail, being a board member or admitting cars into the show, everybody is a volunteer.  I am so grateful for everybody that donates time prior to and on the day of the show.  It is a rewarding experience, to be part of such a fun event with a great cause. As President this year, I am honored to help guide this event knowing the team will be true to the mission and preserving the Cruise-In identity while enhancing the experience of the show.  Every year the show is a smashing success and it is all volunteers!  People are amazing aren’t they?

Cruise-in is also supported by generous fans and sponsors, many returning for over 20 years.   I regularly meet fans that have had a car in the show or attended the event as far back as 1997 when it all began.  First Langley City and now The Township of Langley are the generous hosts that let us crash in their yard for the weekend and bring the party!  Langley Advance Times helps immensely to get the word out with so many great stories and content.  Although no article on carburetor cleaning tips!  A big thank you to our host of event sponsors, your support is pivotal.  I encourage all fans of cruise in to check out and support our sponsors.

Very exciting developments this year include our simplified online registration that makes it much easier to sign up early and guarantee your spot in the show.  We also have the best entertainment coming back again.  You can be sure to see the hardest performing Elvis, rockin’ bands and some live displays to take this show over the top.  You will not be bored!  Our wonderful friends at In N Out Burger are getting the truck ready to head to the only Canadian venue they attend.  Don’t miss any of this!

If you haven’t figured it out already, myself and the entire Langley Good Times Cruise-in team are busting with enthusiasm for the show.  This is a big hearty welcome to the 2024 Cruise-In from us all and we look forward to seeing you there.  Come say hello and better yet, get involved as a volunteer.  Clean those carbs now!  See you in September.
